There is nothing more impressive then owning your own theater! But is it a theater you really want? Or is it a media room you really need? Often times people use these two terms interchangeably, but in reality they are quite different.
Media room or Theater…which one is for me?
Media rooms serve as a multi-purpose room. This is an area that most people will place a large flat screen TV on the wall, add a few comfy couches or a sectional, a coffee table, and perhaps some built-in storage/bookshelves. This is family and friend gathering area, meant for games, socializing, and watching TV, sometimes at the same time.
Theater rooms are meant to act as your own mini movie theater. They are constructed in an acoustically friendly way, and usually include a large projection screen with seating, lighting, and sound quality similar to those found in an actual commercial movie theater. These rooms are usually reserved for dedicated movie viewing and are not utilized as a multi-purpose room. Most basements that include a theater room also include a separate multi-purpose area as well.
