Built-Ins and Custom Cabinetry
Built-Ins are the “IT” thing right now in basement remodeling. Many people are choosing to use this option instead of the traditional free standing cabinetry for the general look, as well as for the safety of having a secured piece of furniture. There are several different options and styles to chose when choosing this option.
Here are a few things to keep in mind when choosing to incorporate a built-in into your remodel:
1. Quality of wood affects the overall cost of the built-in. We can give you a quote based on the type of wood you are interested in using or we can give you cost effective solutions.
2. Depending on the detail and size of your built-in, some will be constructed at your property and otherwise will be constructed at a wood shop and then completed at your property. So the overall depth of detail will affect the final price. Once again we can tailor the final project with your budget in mind.
We have provided several pictures of built-ins on our website. However if there is another type of a design that you like please let us know and we can design that for you.
Bars
There are so many options for home bars that it would be impossible to list them all here. Most homeowners either chose to have a custom bar built or they chose to install a pre-purchased bar. A custom built bar will often times cost more than a prebuilt bar, but many homeowners chose the custom bar option because they can design it to fit their exact needs and wants.
In-Home Bar Basic Design Tips
Budgeting for a bar is VERY important. It is very easy to spend way more that you actually have, so GCS can give you a basic design idea and cost based on your budget.
Location of a bar is often times in the basement located around pool tables or media rooms. The size and the shape of the bar is dictated by the among of space that you wish to use for the bar. A typical in-home bar is 42″ high X 24″ deep. This allows for individuals to sit comfortably at the bar on a typical size bar stool which is 30″ tall.
Shape of the bar is sometimes dictated by space and otherwise by personal choice. The typical shapes used for in-home bars are straight, L Shaped, and round.
Other items such as stone accent walls and pillars, stone countertops, in bar kegerators, sinks, wine refrigerators, lighting, shelving, etc. are all additional elements that add to the uniqueness of your bar and are important to include in the design before the construction process begins to avoid additional costs and issues.
