Flooring options
Carpet choices are vast and usually dictated by the homeowners budget. In our quotes we usually factor in a mid level carpet and then add or subtract the final number depending on the homeowners choice. We are not a middle man, we use an in house carpeting professional. Therefore we do not markup the cost of the flooring or flooring materials. Obvious benefits to carpet are that it is soft and warm (perfect for childrens’ sleepovers), and a quieter choice of flooring, however it can stain easily and absorb odors and allergens.
Hardwood choices can have the same range as carpet. You can select laminate wood flooring or bamboo flooring depending on your overall look and budget. There are several things to consider when selecting hardwood as your option. Hardwood is fairly easy to keep clean and sterile and does not stain easily. However it is obviously hard and colder than carpet and can scratch and be noisy.
Tile is usually the perfect choice for the bathroom, however we have had several clients chose this option throughout their entire basement. It is durable and fairly easy to clean, but has some of the same downsides as hardwood, as well as the possibility of cracking, although if a tile is installed properly it should not crack easily.
Concrete floor sealing and dying has been gaining in popularity. It is a great way to create a moisture free, long lasting floor, but also has some of the same downsides as hardwood and tile. With this option you can also create decorative patterns and symbols within the floor, that can produce a stunning finished product.
Vinyl flooring is still an option out there, although it is not as widely used anymore. Vinyl flooring is a very durable product and can often times be easier to clean than tile, especially in the bathroom and kitchen areas. There is a wide range of design options for vinyl flooring, with some that closely resemble tile flooring. This is a budget friendly flooring option.
